Dental implants have become one of the most popular dental procedures in today's dental society for a number of reasons. It's one way of replacing a missing/extracted tooth. A post is planted in the jaw bone to support a replacement tooth. This acts like the root of a natural tooth. Implants can also be used to support fixed bridges or dentures. The implant offers the patient the opportunity to re-gain normal function of the tooth.

Orthodontics problems are treated effectively in both adults and children using appliances which may either be fixed or removable. Options exist of using braces that are tooth coloured or those which are placed on the inner (tongue) side of the teeth thereby minimizing the visibility.

Laser whitening

Whitening is a process where the tooth discoloration is 'whitened' to a lighter shade. It removes the staining agent through chemical means. It is a safe procedure when carried out under professional supervision. Treatment results usually depend on the severity of the discoloration. Both vital (i.e. live) and non-vital teeth (e.g. tooth with root removed) can be bleached and may take several visits to complete. It is not effective on dental restorations such as amalgam fillings, metal or porcelain crowns, etc.

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. If you have a tooth that requires a filling, the dentist will first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, and then fill the cleaned out cavity with a filling material. A filling also helps prevent further decay by closing off any cracks or spaces where bacteria can enter.

There are a variety of filling materials available including gold, silver, composite and porcelain. The dentist will work with you to determine which material is best for you, depending on the extent of repair, where in your mouth the filling is needed, and cost.
